GERALDTON

Wow, this township has lots to see and do.  Not sure if we will as only getting the essentials and repair items for the blind and oil for the genset. Could have spent hours in Spotlight but then I told myself - NO - I have not used the wool etc that I purchased up in Darwin to make some fidget mitts, but that doesn't stop me from looking!!!  Wayne over at Auto Barn or Super Cheap browsing to his hearts content as well.

Friday found us driving to Fisherman's Wharf to purchase this beauty for our lunch.  I have been looking forward to sampling a WA lobster for a while now and this did not disappoint!!!  YUMMY.

Saturday has been the first cold, wet and windy day we have had so were happy to sit inside and watch the V8's for the day but after that I needed to take a drive around town so hence these pictures show the grey cloudy/rainy afternoon.

The Ship "Dirk Hartog" is town on it's way up to Skark Bay, Denham for the 400th anniversary celebrations on the 21st Oct

HMAS Sydney Memorial up on Mt Scott.  The dome has 645 stainless steel gulls - the number of lives lost on the ship.  The gull in the foreground pool is flying in the direction of the sunken ship and imprinted in the marble is the co-ordinates.  The left background is the tower of the bow of the ship.

The Waiting Woman.  This bronze figure of a woman looking out to sea, grieving for her loved one lost at sea.

Point Moore Lighthouse

This distinctive white and red stripes lighthouse has been operating continuously since 1878.  Originally brought out from England on the barque Louisa is the only all steel structure lighthouse in Australia.

After the Sunday session of V8's we took a drive into the foreshore for a walk out to the boardwalk overlooking the port with iron ore and grain ships berthed and on the other-side, yachts racing in the harbour then walked past the families in the park listening to the music at the sound-shell.
