ACROSS THE EYRE HIGHWAY - NULLARBOR

OH dear!  I had this huge blog written after hours of preparation of photos and bam......  it was gone.  So, I shall start again.

Camels on roundabout at Norseman, remembering the Afghan's

Day 1 leaving Esperance still raining and signs all along the roadside warning of water over the road we stopped at Norseman to play golf before fuelling up the truck and starting our journey across the Eyre Highway "The Nullarbor".

Fraser Range Sheep Station with the rain closing in and muddy road!

Drove into Fraser Range Sheep Station (2 klms) slipping and sliding on rainy slushy dirt road.  It was coming in like more heavy rain so decided to give the hole of golf a miss here and head on towards Balladonia for the night where we parked at Afghan Rock and played the hole of golf the next morning at Balladonia.

Day 2 after playing the golf we headed off to a rather boring drive onto Moodini Bluff for the next night after playing 4 holes altogether today.

Yep, crossed this today!

Counted 3 R.F.D.S. airstrips on the WA side of the border and 1 in SA.

Heaps of wrecks along the highway.

I hope this was not it's mate that got hit!  Just look at that wing span and the legs of the eagle.
Day 3  was a very frustrating day to drive into a head wind all day so plenty of fuel consumed.  Leaving Moondini Bluff we travelled onto Eucla, Border Village and onto Nullarbor after playing golf we found the Head of the Bight road and parked at the gates free camp for the night.

Blow in the Bag please Wayne - good start to the day and the first time we have been stopped since we have started our travels.  (Nice set of teeth eh!)

This was the closest we could get to parking the rig to the cliffs for a photo shot as a heap of parking spots are now closed because the cliff side is dropping away.

Sunset at Head of the Bight Gates.
Day 4 we went down to the Head of the Bight and strolled the boardwalks which are well worth the time to see.  I imagine it would be very busy here during whale watching season as I just loved the little sighting shacks built on the headland for observers to sit and watch with their binoculars out to sea.

Looking east into the sun.

Looking west from where we have come from.

Happy Valentines Day my darling. (He is still smiling so not ready to throw me over the cliff yet) Lol.

We continued on to Ceduna after playing the holes at Nundroo and  Penong.  We decided to play our final two holes at Ceduna tomorrow morning before we call into the Information Centre and get our certificates.
