EXMOUTH

This was our greeting as we pulled up at the Exmouth Visitors Information Centre.  Apparently the male emu looks after the chicks and the seven of them looked plump and well nourished.
We decided to stay out at the Ningaloo Lighthouse Caravan Park for a week where we are closer to the Cape Range National Park.

Taking a drive in the local area, we first went to view the wreck of the S.S. Mildura that sunk here in 1907 carrying a cargo of bullocks, bound for Fremantle from Cambridge Gulf. (Wyndham)

The Vlamingh Head Lighthouse was originally built in 1912 and an electric light was installed 1967.  This area tells all historic stories of the North West Cape and Ningaloo Coast as well as a great height to look for passing whales on their migration from Antarctica.

The surf breaks you can see are where the reef follows the coastline down the west coast of Cape Range.

If you look very hard one can see the Very Low Frequency transmitter towers for communications of this part of the Indian Ocean.  The centre tower stands 387.6 metres high, the second tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere.
