CAPE RANGE TRAIL

We drove south as far as Yardie Creek today and stopped firstly at the Jurabi Turtle Centre where the story is written very simply and visually for even young folk to understand.

We decided to stop in at most interesting stops including the Milyering Discovery Centre before having lunch at the beautiful Turquoise Bay watching people snorkeling and sunning ourselves before having a swim ourselves.  But no, the grey clouds descended over the sun making it cooler so we oldies packed up and cruised on down to Yardie Creek.

Putting on our walking shoes we took to the walking trail along the top of the northern wall of the gorge.  Yardie Creek is the only gorge in the area with permanent water and spectacular multi-coloured walls.  The 2 klm walk one way has a steep "mini" gorge to traverse up/down but so glad we went all the way.
Looking up into the Gorge

Looking down towards the Yardie Creek entrance and out to sea.

Looking down on the southern cliffs of the gorge where the Corella's are nesting and making a very loud noise about it!
The National Park has in excess of 140 beach side camping bays all along the western shore of the Cape Range NP.  One must book ahead for a spot as all are full today!

Coming back I could not help but notice all the remains of too many wallabies, kangaroo and emu road kill.  We did spot a couple of kangaroos resting at the Lakeside pool, an emu and an echidna on our days travels.
