BEA BEA CREEK REST AREA

It felt as if we where climbing up hill all day!?

After leaving Pt Hedland we traveled south on the busiest Great Northern Highway with large road trains constantly travelling to the mines and back to port as well as fuel trucks, and all goods trucks.  Over 200 klms. today we chose this rest area for the night.  Not far off the road so quite noisy but I got used to it.  Several areas for caravaner's to stay so once we setup we decided to go for a walk and see if I could capture some pretty birds we had watched from our windows.  No success, so we climbed up the hill behind us which had been burnt several months ago, and I marvelled at the plants coming into flower and the rock formations beneath our feet.  Spectacular views from the top we could look back down the gorge we drove through out onto the plains looking north!!

Wayne and I marvel at the formations within the rocks.

We decided to stay another night here at Bea Bea Creek Rest Area and spent the day refurbishing our living area by removing the curtains, tie backs and the same fabric's freeses from the pelmits before restringing one of the blinds which took hours!!
The Pilbara's tourist rest spots feature these distinctive artwork laser-cut into its steel canopy.
The designs were created with local Indigenous artists interpreting the concepts of "shelter" and "meeting place".
I look forward to stopping at more of these beautifully inspired structures throughout the Pilbara Region.

Before we removed the curtains etc.

And after with the windows looking much better.
