This tree fascinates me. The 'boab' is a deciduous tree, found open sandy plains from the Logue River, between Broome and Derby to the Victoria River Basin in the Northern Territory.

Boab Prison Tree is one of the most famous here in Derby. The Prison Boab Tree was used as a rest point for police and escorted Aboriginal prisoners en-route to Derby, and also, its prior but less known connection with Aboriginal traditional religious belief.
