Catching Up With Old Friends at Tenterfield

Friday, after walking back into Texas once again we moved on to Tenterfield to catch up with Stephen and Christine Foster (played tennis with Chris and Wayne played Golden Oldies with Steve way back).  As their property has plenty of room we parked at the rear of their house.  Such obliging friends who showed us their part of natural beatuy spots in the area.  Up to Mt MacKenzie Friday evening overlooking Tenerfield,

Saturday we headed east to Drake and lunched at the Lunatic Hotel before driving through the Rocky River back towards Tenterfield.  Such rugged country - old gold mines and cattle farming through the valleys now.  Awsome!

Sunday Steve and Chris still had more National Parks to show us so we packed a picnic lunch and drove the Mt Lindsay Highway (north east from Tenterfield).  First stop was Thunderbolt Hideout on the Mount Lindsay Highway just south of the border!

From there we drove into Upper Basket Swamp Falls where we enjoyed the quiet scenery all to ourselves over a picnic lunch.  So peaceful.

Wait - there is more to see in this region!  Boonoo Boonoo Falls (Bunna Baloo).  Whew, I thought the previous falls were spectacular but this was just awesome.  HUGE  My photos cannot show the depth of the valley and falls above.

Last but by no means the least!  Bald Rock.  Wish I felt up to the walk to the top today but it was getting late and Wayne and I had a roast dinner to put on for the four of us.  This place is a must for us to come back and do.  As it is just around from Girraween National Park, we will certainly be back at some stage of our travels.

When we were out with Stephen and Christine's friends for dinner last night, one of the gents that lived in Tenterfield mentioned the Cork Tree so I had to see this "Topic of Conversation".  This is how dumb I was, I did not know there was a cork tree that cork is taken from for the bottling of wine etc.
