Stanthorpe

Saturday morning I set Stanthorpe into "maps app" on my ipad and it directed us onto metaled, corrugated roads before joining the New England Highway again.  "Happy Apple Resort Park at Thulimbah turned out to be the backpackers place to stay in tents or backs of cars, vans etc for the picking season!!!  Only stayed for 1 night as Saturday night - bonfire and loud music with your drinks till 11.30pm!?  Stayed in to watch the womens Australian Tennis final.  Serena's 6th Australia Open win.

Lake Leslie Tourist Park

After shopping at Warwick for provisions, we drove on out to Lake Leslie Dam where it seemed popular for the fishing and skiing on the dam.  One can tell we are now getting close to the granite belt as bolders are showing all around the dam.

Oh No! Sleeping on the Side of New England Highway For the Night!

Farwelled our dear friends only to travel about 40 klms when the F truck universal joint on the drive shaft broke!!!!!  Going no-where. Thanks to Jim's mechanic and Ken Tame Ins getting the truck towed quickly we only had to spend the one night on the side of New England Highway.  Jim bought Ann to "Duz Us" diner with their steaks and pork to enjoy their great company for another evening.

Happy Australia Day and Meeting Up With Dear Friends

Coffee stop at Allora where we could not stay last night as the town was full of folk for "Heritage Weekend".  Lovely well kept township but wanted to get closer to Toowoomba so found Nobby.  Wandered down the main street beside the railway where we free parked and learnt how the town was named. "Pig" story of Nobby Carver and the Rudds Hotel full of history about Sister Kenny(renowned for her treatment for polio).Arrived at Baden Valley Farm to join Jim and Ann.  Loved our stay with them and hope to spend more time travelling with them in their motor home.

Exploring the Scenic Rim Area

Enjoyed looking around Boonah with the friendly towns folk before calling into Lake Moogerah and surrounding peaks and up through Cunninghams Gap and the Main Range National Park.  Whew!  We made it up through the gap so decided to call into the Maryvale Crown Hotel for the night.  Parked opposite the pub and met plenty of locals, all very friendly.

Goodbye Brisbane

Only travelled to Beaudeset showgrounds and stayed for 2 nights before moving to Wyaralong Dam recreation park.  Loved this place as it was quiet and peaceful.  Went walking around to "Secret Valley" and back.  Hot and parched by the time we got back to Duz Us.  Note - Take water with us at all times!
